Watch TV on Your PSP with PlayTV
The remote play feature for the PSP on the PlayTV
device is probably its best feature. It allows you to
watch TV on your PSP anywhere in the house, or in fact anywhere
in the world where you can get a wireless connection
to the internet.
Imagine watching your favorite soap while on holiday in
another country !
Here is how its done:
To activate Remote Play options, simply go
to Settings. Then, choose the Remote Play Settings option and
adjust it so you can use the PSP for remote play. After that,
you must register the particular PSP system you will be using
to hook up with the PS3 system. This option will list all PSP
system that are registered, and choose yours from among the
list. Doing this is relatively simply, and you have an
on-screen instruction to walk you through each step until you
have successfully paired both devices.
Other options for registering your PSP device includes using
a USB cable, via your PS3's system Wireless LAN feature, and
via the Internet.
Get TV on your PSP using a USB cable
Use the USB cable to connect your PS3 and PSP system. Then,
open the PSP system, go to Settings, and choose [USB
Connection]. Under the Settings option, choose [Register
Device]. On the PS3 system, on the other hand, choose [Remote
Play Settings].
An instruction is placed on-screen to tell you how to go
about the process. As soon as the registration (or pairing) is
complete, you can now remove the USB cable attaching both
systems.
Get TV on PSP in the Car, or Away From Home
You are able to connect both PS3 and PSP system from your
own home using the Internet. Simply set up your PS3 in a remote
play connection standby mode, then you can access the remote
play features even while you are away from home.
First, you must connect to the internet using either a wired
or wireless connection. Then, use that to connect to your PS3
system. Go to the PS3's Home menu, go to Friends, and choose
the Sign In option. You can access Remote Play through the
internet, but first you must log into the PlayStation Network.
At PS3's Network menu, choose the Remote Play option. It will
then place your system in a remote play connection standby mode
and your sign-in ID will be shown.
Then, do the same procedure at the PSP's Home system. You
can connect to the PS3 by choosing the Connect via Internet
option. After that, you will be given a list of connections,
from which you will choose one access point to use for remote
play. Enter the same sign-in ID and password to join the
PlayStation Network.
There are multiple ways to connect your PSP to the PS3 and
enjoy PlayTV features even when you are not home. However, the
access that your PSP has on the PS3 is not restricted to the
PlayTV features but also enables you to watch movies or listen
to music that is stored in your PS3's hard drive. With PlayTV's
Remote Play feature, it strengthens the position of Sony's PS3
and PSP as entertainment devices.
